Martin's Cove

Many of you know the story of the Martin Handcart company. The ones that the place in Wyoming was set aside to remember the sacrifices of the members of the company.
The short story:
Converts to the LDS church from England got a late start and hit trials all along the way. They started walking to SLC way late in the season, for many debated reasons, and got caught in one of the worst winters ever in "Wyoming's" (it wasn't Wyoming then) history.
It was at Martins Cove that the rescuers from SLC caught up with them, bringing the food and supplies the saved their lives.

On November 4, 1856 the handcart company crossed the Sweet Water river.
(According to the schedule this should have been happening in early July)
In memory of the trials that the Martin Company went through, the Missionaries at Martins Cove on November 4th every year pull the carts to the river and have a river crossing.
Every one is welcome.

Larry decided he needed to go this year.
and he dragged us with him. :)
These are pics of the trail and the river crossing
